About the project

Jigsaw uses us to provide the day-to-day technical, maintenance and development support for its sophisticated retail website, in addition to one off projects.

For the Christmas period, Jigsaw wanted to inject its website with the spirit of the season. The brief was to create a fun and interactive splash page to engage site visitors, taking it from the busy shopping period through to the annual post-Christmas sales.

What we did

For the landing page we created a festive, traditional high street scene, with the Jigsaw store forming the focal point at the centre, flanked by ‘The Mulled Winery’ and Post Office. To make the scene come to life, moving graphics were included in the design, from iconic black cabs and double decker buses travelling along the road in front of the buildings, to life-like shoppers wandering from shop to shop.

More About What We Did

Prominent elements of the landing page directed visitors to key areas; to find out about the different ways to shop (online, phone, stores, mobile and click & collect); or to enter the ‘Win Your Wishlist’ competition; or to the Christmas gift ideas page.

To add a further dimension to the design, the scene changes from day to night, according to the time detected on the device used to access the page. At night time, the sky darkens and lights come on in the windows of the buildings.

We produced the design in CSS, Javascript and HTML, rather than Flash, to allow it to be compatible with all devices and all browsers including iPads and iPhones.
