About the project

Jigsaw London is the American operation of the British fashion retailer Jigsaw. A good percentage of their online traffic comes from consumers browsing on mobile devices and tablets. Jigsaw London wanted to develop their existing Magento store into a mobile friendly, responsive website, strengthening the mobile user experience.

Continuity was an issue too. The UK version is built on the BT Fresca platform, while the US version is built on Magento. There were significant comparative differences in the two user journeys and how the products were displayed and added to basket. Our brief was to recreate the US site to look identical to the UK version.

What we did

We recreated all the HTML and CSS to bring all the designs inline with the UK site. We rebuilt all the Magento templates onto a responsive framework and upgraded Magento to the latest version.

The existing site, especially the Product Details pages, were heavily reliant on various clunky, non default Magento plugins. The site wanted to mirror the UK site and these new Product pages needed to be redesigned and built. This also meant that all the Products had to be entered into Magento. We wrote scripts that took the existing products and created new ones. Once these new products were created, we created an additional script that automatically created the 301 redirects.

Quote from customer

Jigsaw uses Red Dot Creative as a vital, reliable support to our in house design and development teams – especially when the workload is high and deadlines are looming. As a team of highly skilled developers and designers Red Dot work really well as a seamless extension to my team. They’re always there for a guidance, support, a second opinion or some friendly advice.

The flexibly is also a key element. As there isn’t a full time commitment, we can rely on Red Dot to support us at the times we need them.
